The Harto Ryu Dojo was founded in 1982 by Arnold Allen, a 9th-degree black belt in jiu-jitsu and 5th-degree black belt in Karate. As Bermuda's premier karate dojo, we have earned a reputation for excellence both locally and within the global martial arts community. Our approach to karate is grounded in a commitment to embracing the technical evolution of traditional and competitive karate.

At the Harto Ryu Dojo, we are dedicated to teaching Shotokan Karate to the highest standard. We take great pride in our affiliation with both the Bermuda Martial Arts Federation and the newly formed Bermuda Karate Federation. Our dojo welcomes practitioners of all ages, with classes for both children and adults starting at age six and up. We believe that karate is an inclusive discipline that can benefit anyone, regardless of age or ability.

Our focus at the Harto Ryu Dojo is on teaching beginners the correct techniques that are relevant to their abilities. We are passionate about helping our students develop improved health, strength, stamina, flexibility, concentration, and self-confidence. We believe that the benefits of karate extend beyond the dojo and into everyday life, helping our students become more resilient, focused, and disciplined individuals.

Whether you are a seasoned martial artist or a complete beginner, we invite you to come and experience the Harto Ryu Dojo and all that it has to offer. Our experienced instructors and welcoming community are here to support and guide you on your karate journey.
