Tabata-Ha Shotokan Karate-Do Bermuda is a renowned school for traditional Shotokan Karate and is recognized worldwide for its exceptional training program. Our weekly training sessions take place at the Holy Trinity Church Hall, located on 23 Trinity Church Road, Hamilton Parish. We offer training on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:45-9:00pm, and our program is tailored to meet the needs of a diverse range of age groups, including children as young as 5 years old, teens, adults, and seniors. We also offer training on Sunday mornings from 7:30-9:00am.

Our school has had a significant impact on the community in Bermuda. We believe that the discipline and respect instilled through karate training can positively influence individuals, families, and society as a whole. Through our training programs, we aim to develop strong, confident individuals who are equipped with the tools necessary to succeed both in and outside of the dojo.

In addition to our regular training sessions, we also participate in various community events and tournaments throughout the year. These events provide an opportunity for our students to showcase their skills, meet other karate practitioners, and contribute to the local community.

We are committed to providing high-quality karate training to our members and are always looking for ways to improve our program. At the age of 14, Sensei Butterfield began his martial arts journey at Whitney Institute under the guidance of Sensei Alex Outerbridge. After leaving Whitney, he continued his training with Sensei Princeton Bailey and Sensei Jerry Bailey. In November 2011, Sensei Butterfield opened his own dojo, where he continues to share his passion for martial arts with his students.

The dojo is also home to a team of highly skilled instructors, including Sensei Roger Trimm, who serves as the technical director, and Sensei Oscar Lightbourne and Sensei Andrea Mckey. Together, these instructors bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the dojo, ensuring that students receive the highest quality instruction in a safe and supportive environment.

Sensei Butterfield and his team are committed to upholding the values of respect, discipline, and perseverance in their teachings. They believe that martial arts training has the power to transform lives, helping students to develop not just physical strength and agility, but also mental fortitude and resilience.
